Stamford Man Held in Halloween Machete Attack

The victim was stripped of his clothes, slashed and robbed of $500, and was found by a cabbie early Halloween.

A city man has been arrested by Stamford Police on charges he used a machete to assault and then rob a Stamford man, leaving the victim stripped of his clothes and about $500 on Halloween morning.

Esdras Celada, 25, of Stamford, who police said is member of a Central American gang, has been charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault and conspiracy to commit robbery, according to WTNH. Celada, who was arrested Dec. 14, remains in custody, unable to post $50,000 bond and is scheduled to return to state Superior Court in Stamford on Jan. 6, according to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website.

The victim was found by a cabbie who found him bleeding and wearing only a garbage bag. The victim said he had been drinking with four men in Port Chester, NY before returning to Stamford where the attack apparently took place, according to the report.

Police say they believe Celada is a MS-13 (Mara Salvatrucha) member of a gang with ties to Southern California that claims allegiance to the Mexican Mafia, according to the report that can be found here.
