Stamford Mayor To Undergo Knee Surgery: City Officials
City officials said he will be unavailable for public appearances until this date.
STAMFORD, CT — City officials said Mayor David Martin is scheduled to undergo surgery after falling and rupturing the quadriceps tendon in his right knee while on vacation. The incident occurred Wednesday during a meeting with Buffalo, N.Y., Mayor Byron Brown at Buffalo City Hall.
He is expected to make a full recovery, officials said.
Martin will now be unavailable for public appearances until July 8, and all of his previously scheduled appearances until then are cancelled. Chief of Staff Michael Pollard will represent the city in his place.

"Although the injury is unlikely to cause long-term damage, and the prescribed surgery has a high success rate, medical professionals recommend restricting mobility following this procedure," city officials said in a statement. "Mayor Martin will continue to work from home and will be generally available by email and phone throughout his recovery."
Officials said Martin fell down a set of stairs following a tour of Buffalo City Hall. The mayor's right quadriceps tendon ruptured while he was recovering from the fall.
