Stamford Names Interim Director of Administration
This appointment comes after Director of Administration Michael Handler's recent announcement that he will be retiring.

STAMFORD, CT — Days after Michael Handler announced he will retire as Stamford's director of administration, Mayor David Martin has announced that Sandy Dennies has been named the city's interim director of administration.
Dennies, who previously served as Stamford's director of administration under former Mayor Dannel Malloy from 2007 to 2009, will begin the position Monday, according to a statement from the mayor's office.
"I am excited that Sandy is returning to work for the city as she is a proven professional," Martin said in a statement. "She is returning to us with valuable institutional knowledge of Stamford’s, as well as other Fairfield County municipalities', finances. This background will be instrumental in maintaining continuity as we enter budget season."

After leaving Stamford in 2009, Dennies went on to manage town finances for both Wilton and, most recently, New Canaan. Prior to being named director under Malloy, she served as the city's grants manager.
Earlier this week, Martin announced Handler was scheduled to retire from his position on Friday, Feb. 28, and that he would appoint an interim director while the city looks for a permanent replacement.
