Stamford North Little League To Hold 'New Player' Registration

North Stamford, Springdale kids can sign up for spring baseball - new players in person, returning players online

Stamford North Little League will hold registration Feb. 9 and 10 for new players wanting to join the Spring 2015 season of Stamford’s premier youth baseball league for children ages 4 to 12.

Stamford North Little League is the product of the recent merger between the North Stamford and Springdale Little Leagues.

Children who did not play in either league in 2014 should register in-person on either:

  • Feb. 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Turn of River Fire Department station, Buxton Farm and Turn of River roads
  • Feb. 10, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Springdale Fire Department station, 987 Hope St. across from the State Cinema.

A parent or guardian must provide the child’s birth certificate and three forms of proof of residency (parent/guardian driver’s license, recent utility bill, financial records, etc.) or proof of attending a league-area school (report card from current school year) at registration.

Children are eligible for Stamford North Little League if they were born from May 1, 2002, to Dec. 31, 2011, and either:

  • Live within the league’s city boundary: generally north of the Merritt Parkway, or east of Newfield Avenue and north of Fairland Street/Toms Road)
  • Attend a school in that area including: Northeast, Springdale or Toquam public elementary schools; Scofield or Dolan public middle schools; Bi-Cultural Day, Long Ridge, Mead and Holy Spirit schools.

Stamford North Little League registration fees run from $75 to $175, depending on player’s age and level of play. Early-bird discounts, sibling discounts and scholarships are available.

Returning players from either the North Stamford or Springdale Majors or Minors divisions can register and pay online this year at the Stamford North Little League website (http://StamfordLittleLeague.com).

Tryouts for new players ages 7 to 12 and returning players who were not on a Majors team has been tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 7, at Dolan Middle School.
