STAMFORD, CT — Stamford officials this week held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the city's new walk-in permitting center.

A dedicated space on the seventh floor of the Stamford Government Center will allow residents seeking a permit to ask questions to staff about residential and minor commercial projects, such as food businesses, cosmetology, barber, and retail food establishments.

"Since piloting this initiative last year, the wait time to get a permit has dramatically reduced. Thank you to all the city department officials who assist residents through the permitting process," Mayor Caroline Simmons said in a Facebook post. "This center reinforces my administration’s commitment to enhancing citizen services and making government more efficient, accessible, and responsive to resident needs."
