Stamford Police To Hold Gun Buyback Event

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department will hold a gun buyback and gun safe giveaway day on Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 725 Bedford St.

Gift cards will be exchanged for operable guns. Guns must be transported in the trunk of the car. Non-working guns, black powder weapons, flare guns, pellet/BB guns and ammunition/magazine clips may be turned in, but they won't be eligible for gift cards.

Buybacks will provide gift cards in the following amounts:

  • $200 for assault weapons (per CT summary of gun laws, to be determined by police. No newly sawed-off shotguns
  • $100 for pistols and revolvers
  • $50 for rifles and shotguns
  • $25 for single and double shot (Derringer style) handguns and any type of black powdered guns.

A limited number of free pin code gun safes are available for pistol permit holders. The event is 100 percent anonymous. No ID is required, no questions asked.
