STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford Police officer recently returned home after weeks of battling the new coronavirus at Greenwich Hospital and, later, at a rehabilitation center. In a Facebook post Tuesday, the department revealed Michael Burke, an officer and a city resident, began showing sign of the virus during the week of March 23.
After becoming symptomatic, Burke was taken to Greenwich Hospital to meet his personal physician. He later tested positive for the virus, also referred to as COVID-19, and was immediately admitted to the facility, police said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
After a "three-week battle," Burke was released from Greenwich Hospital last week and transferred to a rehabilitation facility, police said. On Tuesday, Burke was finally transported home from the facility by his fellow officers.
