Stamford Public Schools Announces Administrative Appointments

Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero announced administrative appointments at Central Office, Northeast, Scofield, Stillmeadow and Strawberry Hil.

STAMFORD, CT — Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools Dr. Tamu Lucero this week announced several administrative appointments at Central Office, Northeast Elementary School, Scofield Middle School, Stillmeadow Elementary School, and Strawberry Hill School.

The following appointments are effective July 1:

  • Scott Clayton, principal at Scofield Middle School, has been named director of systems and student outcome data for Stamford Public Schools.
  • Dr. Shawn Marinello, principal at Northeast Elementary School, has been appointed principal at Scofield.
  • Jennifer DeRubeis, principal at Julia A. Stark Elementary School, has been appointed principal at Northeast.
  • Sandra Carlton, an assistant principal at Strawberry Hill School, has been appointed an assistant principal at Scofield.
  • Jillian Churchill, an assistant principal at Cloonan Middle School, has been appointed an assistant principal at Stillmeadow Elementary School.
  • Dr. Reina Costanzo, an assistant principal at Scofield, has been appointed an assistant principal at Strawberry Hill.
  • Iuliana Roata, an assistant principal at Stillmeadow, has been appointed an assistant principal at APPLES.

"As a large district offering 25 school programs encompassing PreK to Adult Education, Stamford Public Schools offers its building leaders opportunities to learn, grow, and enhance their skills without leaving the district," Lucero said in a news release. "We are fortunate to have so many accomplished, inspiring and dedicated leaders within Stamford Public Schools, and we are excited about the opportunities for professional growth that these changes will bring, for both the individual administrators and their new learning communities."

In the newly-created role of director of systems and student outcome data, Clayton will be a member of the teaching & learning department and will report directly to Chief Academic Officer (CAO) Amy Beldotti.

He will be responsible for developing and implementing a structure for the district data team and for creating a district-wide system for research workflow. He will work closely with the CAO and the associate superintendents to support attendance reporting, grant applications, state testing, state data reporting, and the new teacher evaluation system.

"Data is a powerful tool that can help inform instruction, identify gaps in learning, and give us actionable information to help address challenges like chronic absenteeism," said Beldotti in a news release. "Scott has been successful in using data to inform teaching and learning at Scofield, and we are thrilled that he will be working with us to create a robust data research and reporting operation to benefit the entire District."
