Stamford Public Schools To Cut 25 Positions: Report
The school district had been looking at ways to close a budget gap.
STAMFORD, CT — In order to find $3 million in savings due to a budget cut by the Board of Finance last month, Stamford Public Schools will eliminate around 25 positions in the district, according to the Stamford Advocate.
The Board of Education on Tuesday night approved a budget of $330.7 million for 2024-2025.
Included in the cuts is the coordinator for English Learners approximately nine teaching positions at Stamford's three high schools, around eight specialist positions at the elementary and middle school levels, and seven teaching positions tapped for the Big Picture Learning Academy, which is now slated to open in Stamford in 2025, the Advocate reported.
