Stamford Schools Names Leader Of Office of Family & Community Engagement
Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools Dr. Tamu Lucero announced the new leader of the Office of Family & Community Engagement.

STAMFORD, CT — Stamford Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero this week announced that Juan Pazmino, who began his Stamford Public Schools career as a family resource facilitator in the Office of Family & Community Engagement (OFCE) in 2006, has been tapped to lead the OFCE when its longtime director, Mike Meyer, retires on June 30.
"Through Mike Meyer’s vision and leadership, OFCE became a model for effective family and community engagement," said Lucero in a news release. "Although it’s difficult to think about OFCE withoutnMike, there is no one better suited to carry on this work than Juan Pazmino, and we are thrilled that he is returning to OFCE in this critical role."

Pazmino will be the district’s primary liaison to external organizations and agencies providing services to SPS families, and will help ensure families have access to school and community resources and supports that will help their children thrive in Stamford Public Schools.
Pazmino also will oversee the new SPS Welcome Center at Cloonan Middle School, and his team will continue to manage the Family and Community Engagement Liaisons (aka Parent Facilitators) who work in the district’s PreK-12 schools.

"Juan has a long history of serving SPS students and families with passion and commitment," said Associate Superintendent for Access and Opportunity Dr. Lori Rhodes, in a news release.
"As xoordinator of the Office of Family and Community Engagement, Juan will have an opportunity to lead work that positively impacts students and families across the entire District, as well as to be a resource to our school administrators and community partners."
A bilingual educator with extensive experience working with students, families and community organizations, Pazmino is currently the dean of students at Westhill High School.
In this role, he is responsible for leading efforts to create a positive school climate and for managing attendance, discipline, interventions, and social-emotional learning initiatives.
Prior to serving as dean of students, Pazmino was the administrative intern at AITE from 2018 to 2020, and was a social worker at Westhill from 2014 to 2018, during which time he also taught in the New Arrivals Program.
Pazmino is the faculty advisor for Aspiring Leadership Through Action, an after-school and Saturday program that provides academic, college-readiness, social-emotional, and family support to students at Westhill and Stamford High School.
He is also a Summer Bridge Leader in the Stamford Cradle to Career RISE Program, where he provides support and guidance to recent high school graduates as they make the transition to college.
