Stamford, Conn.— Stamford Public Schools (SPS) announced that current SHS assistant principal Dr. Claudia Berlage will assume the responsibilities of the new SPS Assistant Principal responsible for Career Pathways. This position will oversee Career Pathways, Workplace Learning, and Apprenticeships in SPS high schools.

Dr. Berlage has served as one of the assistant principals at Stamford High School for the past eight years. Previously, she taught mathematics and served as the mathematics department head in the Bridgeport Public Schools and at Stamford High School and taught business in Wetzikon, Switzerland. Dr. Berlage has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Bridgeport and the Agriculture College Strickhof in Switzerland.

              Dr. Berlage holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Business Education from the University of Zurich. She also holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Dr. Berlage earned her Doctorate and her Administration and Supervision Certification from the University of Bridgeport.  

              “Claudia’s background in business, her personal experience in Europe with pathways and apprenticeships, and her passion for the work, make her the ideal administrator to lead this initiative in our high schools,” remarks Dr. Tamu Lucero, Superintendent of Stamford Public Schools. Lucero adds, “This new role supports the vision of the Workforce Strategic Plan that resulted from the Governor’s Workforce Council calling for action by educators and business leaders to provide more opportunities for our students to successfully enter the workforce.”
