  • This year’s mock trial is a fictional criminal case where a teenage boy is accused of murdering a fellow teen at an outdoor high school party. The case centers on a supposed confession that the accused made while pledging to join a fictional college secret society. The Westhill/Stamford High/AITE team will be representing the defense, while the Weston High School team will represent the prosecution, at the championships. A panel of judges from the Connecticut Supreme Court will determine the outcome of the trial. The competition will be livestreamed on March 17, 2021, at 3:00 p.m., at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5HZPxA-bMzJ09jSN68bnPw/about%5C According to the organization, Mock Trial is an after-school enrichment club that teaches essential skills such as public speaking, critical thinking, and the art of forming a persuasive, cohesive argument. Participants garner an understanding and appreciation of the American judicial system through academic competition.
