Stamford Public Schools: Student And Staff Recognition For March 2021

Mock Trial State Championships Stamford Public Schools' High School Mock Trial team qualified to compete in the State Championships.

Celebrating Entrepreneurship 2020 Contest Northeast Elementary School Fourth Graders Gino D'Orta, Hayden Fazzino and Cayla Katz won first prize in the Junior Achievement of Greater Fairfield County, Inc. "Celebrating Entrepreneurship 2020," Contest. With the support of their Northeast Teacher Kristen Matsen, these students shared their outstanding ideas on the types of new stores or businesses they would want to open in the Stamford community near their school. Mock Trial State Championships Stamford Public Schools’ High School Mock Trial team qualified to compete in the State Championships, which took place last week. According to Civics First, the private non-profit that runs the tournament, 44 teams from across the state competed, with only two advancing to the finals. To qualify, the Westhill/Stamford High/AITE team won all four trials in the first four rounds. Attorney Daniel Brill, Esq., of a Stamford-based law firm serves as the team’s coach. The team comprises students from all three high schools: Academy of Information Technology & Engineering (AITE)

  • Aquarion Black History Month Quiz and Writing/Essay Contest Davenport Elementary School Fifth Grader Reya Kotha was a winner in the Aquarion Black History Month Quiz and Essay Contest in February. The contest was open to any student in Grades 3 to 12, who attends school in a town or city serviced by Aquarion Water Company. Each contestant had to answer a six-question quiz and submit a 100-word essay explaining why it is important to learn about Black History. Reya was among 22 winners from across the state and the only winner from Stamford.
