Author Julia Trelstad to Moderate Panel Discussion at Book Publishing Conference

"Publish and Promote Your Book" conference will be held at Sarah Lawrence College. Stamford resident Patricia Dunn will preside.

The third annual “Publish and Promote Your Book” conference will take place at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville on Saturday, June 25, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Stamford resident Patricia Dunn will preside at the conference and White Plains resident and author Julia Trelstad will moderate a panel discussion covering digital and social media.

Panel discussions at the conference will cover how to find and pitch literary agents and ways book authors can publicize and attract attention to their work. The conference will be conducted in the college’s Donnelley Film Theatre at The Monica and Charles A. Heimbold Visual Arts Center. The registration cost is $425 which includes a buffet lunch.

Along with Trelsted, panel discussions will be also be moderated by Caitlin Alexander (a session with editors as panelists), and Cynthia Manson (a session with literary agents as participants).

To help writers get ready to meet with literary agents or editors on June 25, “Pitch Prep Sessions” are scheduled for June 23-24, 2016 but June 24 is sold out. The cost to attend a session is $75.

At a Pitch Prep Session, the emphasis is on refining the attendee’s pitch. What agents and editors look for is covered as well as how to turn a pitch into a query letter, and how to follow up requests to receive a manuscript.

About Julia Trelstad

Julie Trelstad is the Director of Digital Rights at Writers House, a Manhattan literary agency that provides authors with self-publishing, online marketing and other publishing-related services. Before joining Writers House, Trelstad was an acquisitions editor at various publishing houses including The Taunton Press, Reader’s Digest, and John Wiley and Sons, where she specialized in architecture and home design books.

A resident of White Plains, she is also the founder and publisher of Plain White Press of White Plains, a boutique non-fiction publishing company, which she sold to Fox Chapel Publishing in 2011. She earned a BA degree at Columbia University and received an MA from the Parsons School of Design in New York City.
