Stamford Man Walks for Peace from Ground Zero in New York to Boston

The peace advocate is making his way from the 9/11 Memorial to the site of the Boston bombings.

A Stamford resident is participating in his fifth Pray for Peace walk, the New Haven Register reports.

Al Forte, 71, began his walk on Sept. 1 at Ground Zero and is making his way to the location of the Boston bombings.

On Sept. 13, Forte was in Guilford going east towards New London, according to the Register. Forte walks to spread the message of “Praying for Peace”, handing out “Pray for Peace” cards to people he meets along the way.

According to Forte’s route plan, he will reach the site of the Boston bombings on Sept. 29.

A father of three and grandfather of eight, Forte told the Register he walks because he would like the world to be a better place for his grandchildren. He first walked for peace in 2005.

Forte is currently in East Lyme heading towards Niantic on Boston Post Road, Route 1.
