Stamford School Makes List Of 50 Best Public Elementary Schools In CT
U.S. News based its rankings on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education.
STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford elementary school has made the list of the top 50 public elementary schools in CT, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Stamford Charter School for Excellence, which serves students in PK-8, came in at No. 16.
U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation’s best public elementary schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. Elementary schools are considered K-6 in the analysis.

The methodology for the rankings focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, while also accounting for students’ background and their achievements in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were applied to break ties.

At Stamford Charter School for Excellence, 77 percent of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 78 percent scored at or above that level for reading, U.S. News said.
The school’s minority student enrollment is 96 percent, and the student-teacher ratio is 28:1, which is the same as that of the district, U.S. News noted. There are 561 students enrolled at the school.
The rankings are intended as an evaluation tool to inform parents on how well schools are doing at providing high-equality education and providing students for a successful future, LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release.
