Matteo Gallego, who helped spark the dramatic turnaround of the Westhill boys soccer team, was one of seven FCIAC players to earn all-state honors by the Connecticut Soccer Coaches Association.
Gallego earned a spot on the Class LL team, along with Staples' goalie James Hickok, Norwalk’s Nick Zuniga and Greenwich’s Pieter Zenner.

Earning spots on the Class LL team were New Canaan’s Scott Levene and Jon-Luke Ferrandin and Wilton’s Dillon Weed.
The all-state players will be honored during a Jan. 29 dinner at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Westhill started the season 0-5, which included forfeiting three games for using an ineligible player, but went on a 9-0-2 run down the stretch to secure a berth in the FCIAC playoffs.
