After losing to New London last week in the Northeast Christmas Classic, the boys basketball team dropped three spots to seventh in the New Haven Register state media poll.
And the Crusaders will fall further after suffering a stunning 43-41 setback to Greenwich on Tuesday night.

Junior Alex McMurray hit a jumper at the buzzer for the Cardinals. McMurray's game-winner came after he stole an inbounds-pass underneath Greenwich's basket with under four seconds remaining.
Greenwich (5-1) won despite losing 6-foot-center Sem Kroon, who did not return after suffering an ankle injury in the third quarter.

Trinity Catholic fell to 4-2 after building a 17-8 lead after the first quarter.
McMurray led the Cardinals with 12 points while Greg Donlic added 10. Greenwich closed within 27-23 at the half and built a 41-37 lead with three minutes remaining.
Jason Boswell and Kevin Lemeune each had 11 points for the Crusaders, who in all likelihood will fall out of the top 10.

Sam Dorissaint registered a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds as Westhill routed Darien 72-49 in boys basketball action.
Tony Dobbinson added 14 points and 10 assists for the Vikings (3-2), who jumped out to leads of 25-9 after the first quarter and 44-22 at halftime.
Liam Naughton scored 15 points and Matt Lee added 14 for Darien, which dropped to 1-5.
Westhill had four players in double figures as Aaron Young added 12 and Romario Narine chipped in with 11.
Darien played better in the second half as it was only outscored by a 28-27 margin.

A furious rally fell just short for the Stamford boys basketball team, which trailed by as many as 22 points before suffering a 62-60 loss to Bridgeport Central.
Barry Boderick scored 20 points and Shawn Padilla added 18 and 11 rebounds for the Black Knights, who got as close as two points in the fourth quarter.
Stamford trailed by 22 points midway through the second quarter but used a 26-9 spurt that extended into the third period to climb back into the game.
Stamford, which slipped to 2-4, trailed 31-21 at the intermission after Central (3-1) had built a 17-5 lead after the first quarter.
Stamford's only two wins have come against winless McMahon.
Yasaar Abdul scored 16 points and Josh Wilkerson added 15 to lead the Hilltoppers.

Mackenzie Griffin scored 11 of her 13 points in the second half as the Trinity Catholic girls basketball team rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit Tuesday to post a 43-35 victory over struggling Greenwich.
Caroline Barrett scored 15 of her 24 points in the first half, helping the Cardinals build a 26-17 halftime lead.
However, Trinity Catholic outscored Greenwich 15-2 in the third quarter to take a 32-28 lead into the final period.
Greenwich (1-7) lost its seventh straight game and hasn't won since a season-opening 49-47 overtime victory against Fairfield Warde.
Ali Palma added 12 points for Trinity Catholic, which won its second straight and improved to 5-3.
Greenwich was outscored 26-9 in the second half with Barrett scoring all nine points for the Cardinals.

Ashyla Cody paced three players in double figures with 18 points as the Stamford girls basketball team rolled to a 71-28 victory over Bridgeport Central.
Kelsey Cognetta added 17 and Lauren Schapiro chipped in with 11 for the Black Knights, who improved to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the FCIAC.
Stamford opened a 29-13 halftime lead, then outscored the Hilltoppers 42-15 in the second half.
Bridgeport Central dropped to 1-7 overall and 0-6 in the FCIAC.

Megan D'Alessandro scored 17 points and Steph Roones added 12, leading the Westhill girls basketball team to a 40-37 victory over Darien.
D'Alessandro also had eight rebounds and four steals for the Vikings, who improved to 3-4.
Meg Marren had a huge game for Darien with 21 points, 13 rebounds and four steals.
Kate Bushell added six points for the Blue Wave, who slipped to 3-4 after falling to New Canaan 61-58 in the championship game of the La Vista tournament on Thursday
