The semifinals in the 12-year-old District One Little League tournament will be played Wednesay at Springdale.

Darien American, the only team that went undefeated during pool play, will face North Stamford at 5:30 p.m. That game will be followed by a contest between Wilton and National Lione at 7:30 p.m. The finals are set for Sunday at 4 p.m. at Scalzi Park.

The semifinals in the 11-year-old baseball tournament will be played on Thursday, also at Springdale.

At 5:30 p.m., Darien National battes Ridgefield National, followed by Wilton against North Stamford at 7:30 p.m. The championship is slated for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Scalzi Park.

The Big Assist III, the hockey exhibition game hosted by Darien native Ryan Shannon, is set for Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Terry Conners Rink in Stamford.  The event once again will benefit the Obie Harrington-Howes Foundation.

Tickets are still available at Blueline Sports, Barrett Bookstore, and Darien/Rowayton branches of Fairfield County Bank.

Silent auction items available at the game include: signed sticks by Martin St. Louis and Shannon signed sticks; a Sidney Crosby autographed jersey; and signed hats by Zdeno Chara, Patrice Bergeron and Jonathon Toews.

The Stamford 14s and 15s begin play in the Babe Ruth state tournament this weekend after winning District One titles over the weekend against Greenwich.

The 14-year-old tournament is set for Waterford while the 15-year-old tournament takes place in New Milford.

The semifinals are set in the 11-year-old District One baseball tournament. On Thursday, Darien National meets Ridgefield National (5:30 p.m.) and Wilton takes on North Stamford (7:30 p.m.) at Springdale.

The Stamford senior American Legion team moved within one win of a berth in the state tournament with a 14-2 win over Ridgefield on Tuesday.

Stamford, which improved to 13-10 with four games left in the regular season, can clinch a postseason berth with a win over Westport on Wednesday at Staples High School (5:30 p.m.).
