The Stamford softball team heads into the final week of the regular season trying to nail down an FCIAC playoff spot.

With four games remaining, the Black Knights (9-5 in league play) are tied for sixth with Staples,  one game ahead of Fairfield Ludlowe (8-6) and Fairfield Warde, who are tied for ninth in the crowded playoff chase. Wilton (9-6) is in sole possession of eighth place.

Stamford has a tough test against undefeated Westhill on Friday, then finishes next week with Bridgeport Central, Trinity Catholic and St. Joseph. The first two are games the Black Knights should win but St. Joseph will be difficult.

As far as tiebreakers, Stamford routed Staples 18-4 on Monday. The Black Knights opened the season with an 8-7 win over Warde but lost to Ludlowe 6-4 on April 25.
