Dozens patrol volunteers were honored at Civil Air Patrol Day.

State Sen. Carlo Leone (D-Stamford), the legislative Wing Commander and Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, hosted the Civil Air Patrol to the Senate Chamber in honor of Civil Air Patrol Day at the State Capitol.
His Senate colleagues were made honorary Majors of the Civil Air Patrol for the day.
“The civil air patrol was started by a 150,000 volunteers during World War II, ” said Leone. “On the home front, civilians wanted to do what they could to protect our shores and as a result they become an auxiliary branch of the military. Today, they still conduct search and rescue missions and patrol out shores. I want thank our civil air patrol for all the work that they do and their great leadership. It is also an honor for Connecticut to be the first state in the nation to have the entire state senate as honorary members of the Civil Air Patrol.”
