Stamford St. Patrick's Day Parade Grand Marshal Nominees Sought

It may be summer, but nominees are already being sought for the annual event's Grand Marshall. Here's how you can submit one.

STAMFORD, CT — It may be summer, but the Irish American Cultural Society of Stamford is already preparing for St. Patrick's Day next year. As such, they are currently soliciting nominations for the 2020 Grand Marshal of the 25th annual Stamford St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

According to the society, candidates must be of Irish descent, reside in the greater Stamford area and be active and strong supporters of community organizations and events. Candidates must also be available to participate in the parade on Saturday, March 7, 2020, and in events leading up to it, including the Half-Way to St. Patrick's Day Party and the Grand Marshal’s formal announcement.

Nominations must be submitted in writing, along with a short bio, by Aug. 1. Nominations can be sent by mail to Irish American Cultural Society of Stamford, P.O. Box 17163, Stamford, Ct. 06907 or by email at stamfordspdp@gmail.com with the subject "Grand Marshal Nomination."

According to the society, past honorees have included such notable figures as U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., as well as fire chiefs, priests, local artists and other elected officials.
