Stamford State Rep Travels to Taiwan on CT Trade Mission

State Rep. William Tong is part of a state delegation that includes Lt. Gov. Wyman.

Stamford state Rep. William Tong (D-147) is traveling in Taiwan this week as a member of a four-member business and trade delegation looking to woo Taiwanese business to Connecticut.

On Sunday, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, State Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28), State Sen. Tim Larson (D-3), and Tong are traveling on the weeklong business and trade mission funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Republic of China (Taiwan).

They are expected to discuss economic development partnerships, healthcare, education, and transportation with officials from the Republic of China (Taiwan), according to a statement issued by Wyman’s office.

The group is scheduled to have meetings at the Legislative Yuan, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the Council of Agriculture, the Environmental Protection Administration, the Mainland Affairs Council, the Department of Gender Equality at the Executive Yuan, and the European Economic and Trade Office.
