Stamford Teacher Is Accused of Threatening Sexual Assault Victim

Stamford Police say they arrested the teacher who is awaiting sentencing on sexual assault charges with threatening her alleged victim.

The former Stamford High School teacher who is facing charges she sexually assaulted a student during a school-year long affair was arrested again on Friday on charges she threatened the student.

Danielle Watkins’ case involving sexual assault and marijuana possession charges was pending in court, awaiting her sentencing to a minimum of four months in jail — the result of a plea deal reached last month.

It’s not immediately known what impact this arrest will have on the case involving the 32-year-old teacher who lives in Norwalk. The case precipitated charges against two Stamford High School administrators with failing to notify police of child endangerment. The administrators, who have been on unpaid leave since their arrests last fall, are awaiting reassignment.

This is what Stamford Police had to say late Friday about the latest twist in the case:

(On) Friday 01/09/15 the Stamford Police Department Special Investigations Unit received information that a victim from a previous investigation was being threatened and that there is a no contact order in place which prevents the suspect from having any contact with the victims in the case.

The previous investigation had to do with an inappropriate conduct case that a teacher (Danielle Watkins) from Stamford High School had with two of her students. Both victims were students of Watkins and both had marijuana provided to them from Watkins and the other engaged in a sexual relationship with Watkins. Watkins was arrested in July 2014 and a no contact order was put in place on September 2014. In this order she was to have no contact with either of the victims.

On 01/09/15 one victim and his Mother came into Police H.Q’s to report that Danielle Watkins DOB: 07/11/82 threatened her son as he was waiting for his food at a local coffee shop. The victim provided a statement that while he was waiting for his food Watkins made some threatening statements to him. He became so afraid for his safety that he quickly departed and advised his mother what had occurred. They immediately came to the Police department and reported it.

Officers from the Special Investigations Unit corroborated the allegations through video tape evidence at the coffee shop. At that point we applied for an arrest warrant for Threatening 2nd and Violation of Conditions of Release. Officers located Watkins at her residence in Norwalk and she was taken into custody without incident.

Watkins was transported to Stamford H.Q’s and processed for Threatening 2nd and Violation of Conditions of Release. A $25,000 court set cash bond was levied on Watkins.
