Stamford's Game Against Trumbull In Junior American Legion Semifinals Postponed

The teams will play Saturday at noon at Veterans Field in Windsor Locks for a spot in the finals

Stamford's game against zone four rival Trumbull in the semifinals of the American Legion junior state tournament, scheduled for Friday, has been postponed.

The contest was pushed back until Saturday at noon at Veterans Field in Windsor Locks.

Trumbull, the No. 7 seed, advanced with a 2-1, eight-inning win over No. 2 Southington on Thursday.

Stamford, the zone four champion and No. 3 seed, reached the semifinal with a 5-4 victory over No. 6 West Hartford.

The other semifinal between No. 5 Ridgefield and No. 1 Bethel also was postponed and will be played Saturday at 6 p.m. at Danbury High School.

The championship game is now set for Sunday at 1 p.m. at Muzzy Field in Bristol.

With three zone four teams in the semifinal, an area squad is guaranteed to play for the title.
