Stamford's Mia Schipani Joins CT Convention & Sports Bureau Board

Mia Schipani, Chief Marketing Officer for RMS Companies in Stamford, has been elected to the Board of the CT Convention & Sports Bureau.

Stamford resident Mia Schipani, Chief Marketing Officer for RMS Companies in Stamford, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTCSB) for its 2020-2021 fiscal year. The CTCSB is the State of Connecticut’s only statewide sales and marketing organization for meetings, conventions and sports events.

“Mia Schipani leads and directs all strategic brand marketing, media relations, public relations and business development efforts for the hospitality, multi-family, residential and property management divisions of RMS Companies in Stamford, a vertically integrated real estate development firm,” explains Thomas Madden, Chair of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau and the Director of Economic Development for the City of Stamford. “We know she will be a great asset to our organization as we work with Connecticut hospitality industry and business members to sell our state to meeting planners and sports promoters across the U.S.”

Mia Schipani’s communications and marketing expertise spans across the Travel, Hospitality, Real Estate, Fashion, Sports Marketing, Technology, Human Capital, Professional Services and Health and Wellness industries where she launched dozens of luxury brands and businesses as well as her own agency. She was instrumental in launching the Hotel Zero Degrees brand in 2009, as well as in the success of the Stamford and Norwalk hotels from their inception. Mia currently is developing The Lloyd hotel brand in Stamford, a full-service boutique hotel, to open in August 2020. She spearheads all marketing efforts for The Goodwin, The Blake Hotel, Hotel Zero Degrees Norwalk and Danbury, as well as for all other RMS real estate properties.

In addition to Mia Schipani, five other new Board members were elected to the Board of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau. They are:

· Scott Dolch, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Restaurant Association;

· Peter Murphy, a Partner at the law firm of Shipman & Goodwin LLP;

· Julie Nash, the Director of Economic and Community Development for the City of Milford;

· Alex Peterson, the Manager of Government Affairs, and the Assistant to the Executive Director for the Connecticut Airport Authority; and

· Fletcher Williams, the General Manager of the Omni New Haven Hotel at Yale.

“The composition of our Board of Directors reflects expertise in many professions and businesses that affect the hospitality and meetings industries,” adds Robert Murdock, President of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau. “We look forward to Mia’s insight and perspective as we market Connecticut to retain existing and attract new conventions, meetings and sports events to our state that will benefit our economy.”
