Stamford's SoundWaters Adds New Board Members

STAMFORD, CT — SoundWaters, the region’s leader in climate science education that's based in Stamford, has announced the addition of three new members to its board of directors: Ira Flatow, Joseph Fuller, and Alexander Pugliese.

Flatow, of Stamford, is the host and executive producer of the popular public radio program
"Science Friday," heard each week by an audience of 2 million listeners. He is also the founder and president of the Science Friday Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating radio, television and Internet projects that make science "user-friendly."

His extensive career in science reporting has been recognized with numerous awards, including honorary doctorates from Muhlenberg College, and SUNY Buffalo, his alma mater.

A lifelong resident of Westport, Fuller is the president of Fuller and D’Angelo PC, an architectural firm based in Elmsford, N.Y.

In addition to his work designing the Cohen SoundWaters Harbor Center, Fuller's professional career has included numerous design and construction projects in the educational sector, including multiple public school projects in Stamford.

His accomplishments have been recognized with awards for planning, sustainability, IT design, and functionality. An avid yachtsman, Fuller is a founder of the New York Architects Regatta Foundation.

Pugliese is the northeast regional team manager for Building Sciences for Atlas Technical Consultants, a national engineering firm. Holding a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and geoscience from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, he brings more than a decade of professional experience with inspection, compliance, and remediation projects.

An experienced sailor who grew up boating and fishing on Long Island Sound, he resides in Stamford.
