STAMFORD, CT — Mayor David Martin announced Thursday the state's coronavirus testing site for city employees has begun operations at 100 Magee Avenue in Stamford. The testing site, which is run by Hartford Health, will operate every Thursday, according to the announcement.

Martin received a test Thursday to demonstrate to city employees how easy it is to get tested, officials said. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

"As we begin to reopen the city, it is vital we keep testing our workforce to ensure we don’t experience a second outbreak of the virus," Martin said in a statement. "We can continue our reopening plans and avoid a second lockdown as long as we are proactive about testing. This is a self-swab test that is quick and non-invasive. I encourage all of our staff to get tested regardless of if they have symptoms or believe they have been exposed."

City employees can register for testing by contacting their department head and filling out the necessary form. All city employees can receive a test, however priority is given to first responders and operations workers, officials said.

The testing site is not available to the general public, however city officials noted public testing sites are available at many locations throughout Stamford. The city maintains a list of all testing sites on its website.
