Still Not Enough Affordable Housing Units In Stamford: Report

Demand remains high, and officials are slow to process requests due to a lack of staff.

STAMFORD, CT — Despite the construction of more than 1,000 affordable housing units in Stamford in recent years, demand continues to increase for more, writes the Stamford Advocate.

The situation, in which requests for affordable housing are so plentiful that government staff can't keep up with even opening the letters in a timely manner, prompted a recent review from former Stamford land use head Norman Cole.

Cole presented his findings to the Zoning Board last week, and called on the group to centralize the processing of affordable housing requests, among other recommendations.
