Police said the arrest occurred late Wednesday.

STAMFORD, CT — A 42-year-old man was arrested late Wednesday night after police said he was found with a stolen gun and drugs.

Robert Walker, of Stamford, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm, illegal transfer of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and possession of a hallucinogen.

Assistant Stamford Police Chief Richard Conklin told Patch that the police department's Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit (NOC) received information that Walker was in possession of an illegal gun.

NOC officers, along with patrol and K9 units, set up surveillance in the area of Carwin Park on Spruce Street Wednesday night. After about 45 minutes, Walker exited a building in the 70 block of Spruce Street and officers moved in to detain him, Conklin said.

Walker had an unloaded Glock 43 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a mason jar filled with what was later determined to be PCP-soaked mint leaves, Conklin said.

The gun was reported stolen in Berkeley County, South Carolina, in May 2023 after someone broke a vehicle window and took it, Conklin said.

Police are currently reviewing the tip information to see if it qualifies for a monetary reward. The department runs a crimestopper program that offers rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to arrests involving violent crimes, illegal gun possession or wanted fugitives.

Walker was given a bond of $150,000 and was scheduled to be arraigned in Stamford Superior Court on Thursday.
