The all women members of the Syntax group met over time at various art-related activities and have been showing together since 2008. While each artist has her own highly individual style, what they have in common is the use of mixed media. Their works are developed using a variety of traditional and non-traditional art media, often in unexpected ways. From paint to ink, to markers and pencils, painted and found papers, textures, objects, transfers, gels and medium, all are used to develop the richness and depth of their art.
Syntax Media Artists are: Karen Larocque of Mystic, Jan McLean of Shelton, Jean Swanson of Bethany, Kelly Taylor of Glastonbury, Diane Ward of Farmington and Gretchen Wohlgemuth of West Hartford. They are joined for this show by guest artist Marie Fortin of Rocky Hill.
