Tenants Complain Of Conditions At Stamford Apartment Building: Report

STAMFORD, CT — Tenants at the Hoyt Bedford apartment complex in Stamford are voicing frustration over conditions at an apartment building that was condemned by the city, according to News 12 Connecticut.

News 12 CT reported that tenants at 98 Hoyt St., have been complaining about roaches, overflowing trash cans, a lack of heat and hot water, an inoperable elevator, and a flooded parking garage.

The Stamford Health Department condemned the building, and was required by law to open a shelter for residents.

News 12 CT reported that space was made available on Lockwood Avenue, although nobody came.

Tenants also noted that they were promised credits or compensation for the situation in a letter from Rushmore Management, the management company for the apartment complex, but they have received nothing so far, according to News 12 CT.

One resident told News 12 CT her lawyers have sent letters to Rushmore Management asking to break her lease, but they've gone unanswered.

The local news station said that the city's health department fixed a boiler and restored heat and hot water as of Wednesday, and said the building will no longer be condemned. Further inspections will take place to address the roach and trash problems.
