Trinity Catholic Rolls Over Harding

Jeff Cortese rushes for three touchdowns to lead the Crusaders to a 32-7 victory over the winless Presidents

Jeff Cortese ran for three touchdowns Saturday afternoon as the Trinity Catholic football team coasted to a 32-7 victory over Harding at Bridgeport's Kennedy Stadium.

After Cortese opened the scoring, Taquan Broadway's 80-yard romp put Harding ahead 7-6, but that was the only highlight for the winless Presidents.

The Crusaders took a 12-7 lead on Cortese's 1-yard TD, then made it 18-7 at the half on Kevin Epp's 3-yard TD burst on fourth down.

Cortese plowed in from 1 to make it 25-7 with under two minutes left in the third quarter before Trinity Catholic completed the scoring on Cody Zaro's 59-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

The Crusaders, who improved to 2-0, host Norwalk on Friday at 3 p.m. The Presidents, who dropped to 0-3, visit Fairfield Ludlowe on Thursday in a battle of winless teams.
