Trouble Piling Up For CT TV Host Of 'To Catch A Predator'

Chris Hansen was arrested by Stamford police earlier this week, but his legal and financial problems don't appear to stop there.

STAMFORD, CT — The recent arrest on an issuing a bad check charge for TV journalist Chris Hansen appears to be just one of the legal problems hounding the former host of "To Catch a Predator," according to published reports.

TMZ writes that Hansen is being evicted from a New York City apartment because he reportedly owes the landlord thousands of dollars.

And judging from the angry comments on the Kickstarter page where he was hawking the mugs and t-shirts which contributed to his arrest, a lot of people haven't received any of the merchandise they ordered years ago, according to the Connecticut Post.

The Stamford Police Department arrested Hansen this week, accusing the 59-year-old of bouncing about $13,000 worth of checks to Stamford-based Promotional Sales Ltd. for the promotional merchandise. Hansen could not be reached for comment.

The financial problems do not end with the eviction and arrest. Hansen was sued by American Express in 2015 after the charge card giant claimed he owed nearly $58,000, the Connecticut Post writes. And Hansen's 2014 Chevrolet Corvette reportedly was repossessed by Ally Financial after he stopped paying on it in 2017.
