Trump Parc Stamford Residents host School Supply Drive

Donations collected for Boys & Girls Club of Stamford's members

This August, residents at 1 Broad Street (Trump Parc Stamford) partnered with the Boys & Girls Club of Stamford to create a positive back-to-school experience for children attending the Club. Throughout the month, residents dropped off brand new school supplies including backpacks, notebooks, binders, pencils, paper, and markers in the lobby of the building. Dozens of backpacks were collected along with 3 overflowing baskets of supplies.

“This donation means a great deal to our families. Parents on average will spend about $500 per child per year, according to a yearly survey by Deloitte. For many of our families, financial resources are not available for these necessary supplies for their children’s studies, so for Trump Parc residents to step up to the plate and help our families prepare their children for the upcoming academic year, it is really very touching and appreciated so deeply,” said Melissa Rhodes, Director of Development for the Boys & Girls Club.

Event co-chairs Janel Grant, Darlene McDowell, and Anne Katcher stated that watching the piles of donated backpacks and supplies grow every day gave them an immense sense of pride, and they hope the drive will inspire other local residential buildings to do the same. Residential Managers Chris Pickering and Tracey Goring stated that the Boys and Girls Club is an organization close to their hearts, and that it was a joy to support this initiative.
