STAMFORD, CT —Stamford's three high schools are in the top 100 in the state of Connecticut, according to a new ranking recently released by U.S. News & World Report.

U.S. News reviewed 25,000 schools and ranked 17,680 of them, including 206 in Connecticut.

Schools were judged and ranked on six factors: college readiness, state assessment proficiency, state assessment performance, underserved student performance, college curriculum breadth, and graduation rate.

Notably, AITE was ranked 10th in Connecticut in state assessment performance: how aggregated scores on state assessments compare with U.S. News' expectations given the proportions of students who are Black, Hispanic and from low-income households

In Connecticut, the top high school is Marine Science Magnet High School of Southeastern in Groton, followed by Staples High School in Westport.

Marine Science is ranked 211th nationally, and Staples is ranked 240th.

Five schools from Fairfield County made the top 10: Staples High School (second); Darien High School (fourth); Weston High School (sixth); New Canaan High School (eighth); and Greenwich High School (ninth).

The top high school in the U.S. is The Early College at Guilford in Greensboro, N.C.
