Vehicle Crashes Into Stamford Home's Garage: FD

STAMFORD, CT — A Stamford home's garage was "significantly" damaged after a vehicle crashed into it Sunday afternoon, however crews were ultimately able to stabilize the structure, according to fire officials.

A total of 14 firefighters responded to the North Stamford area of the city around 4:30 p.m. after a vehicle crashed into the attached garage of a house on Lynam Road, Deputy Chief Matt Palmer said in a news release. (To sign up for Stamford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Palmer said the garage was "significantly" damaged and crews used specialized struts to stabilize the structure and prevent the roof of the garage from further collapse.

Once the structure was stabilized, crews used a grip-hoist device to safely extract the damaged vehicle from the garage area, Palmer said.

A representative from the city's building department later examined the structure, Palmer said.

No injuries were reported, and Stamford police are investigating the cause of the collision, Palmer said.
