Waterstone on High Ridge Raises Funds to Aid Hawaii Fire Victims

Residents of the Stamford Senior Living Community raise $2,220 which will go to Americares to help the fire victims

STAMFORD, CT. – August, 2023- When residents of Waterstone on High Ridge heard about the wildfires in Hawaii they knew they had to do something.

To raise funds for the fire ravaged communities on the island of Maui, residents of the senior living community held a luau on August 16 with all the proceeds going to aid the fire victims. They raised $2,200 which will go to Americares, which is raising recovery funds.

At least 114 people have died in the western Maui wildfires and about 850 remain missing. With nearly 3,000 homes and businesses destroyed or damaged, losses are estimated to be $6 billion, according to CNN.

“For every $1 donated Americares will donate $20 worth of supplies so we have certainly done a lot of good,’’ said Jeanie Ricci, Senior Advisor at Waterstone on High Ridge. “We are very proud of our residents for taking the initiative to hold this event.’’
