Westhill Advances To Semifinals Of Class LL Softball State Tournament

The defending state champions will face Bristol Central in the semifinals after routing Amity 8-2 on Friday

Cassandra Kish had three hits and Elizabeth Joseph and Eileen Tublin drove in three runs apiece Friday as the Westhill softball team routed Amity 8-2 in the quarterfinals of the CIAC Class LL state tournament.

The top-seeded Vikings improved to 22-1 and will face No. 4 seed Bristol Central in the semifinals on Monday or Tuesday.

Since being stunned by Fairfield Ludlowe 1-0 in the FCIAC quarterfinals, Westhill has erupted for 21 runs. The Vikings ripped Pomperaug 13-1 in the second round.

Amity (17-7)  closed within 4-2 in the top of the second but Allison Macari responded by tossing five scoreless innings to close out the victory.
