Women's March Scheduled For Oct. 9 In Stamford
More than 300 attendees from Southwestern Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y., are expected on Sunday.

STAMFORD, CT — A women's march is scheduled to take place at various cities around the country on Oct,. 9, including in Stamford.
This year's event will take place at the Stamford-Norwalk Judicial District Courthouse, 123 Hoyt St., from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Resident Jaclyn Williams is organizing and co-hosting the Women’s Wave for the first time this year, along with Women’s March and Pink Wave Action, who has previously organized the event.

The event will take place just one month before the midterm elections. Over 200 similar marches will occur on Sunday around the U.S. in what's described as a "national day of action" for women.

Secretary of State candidate Stephanie Thomas will be the keynote speaker.
"As we near election day, women have the opportunity to cast a vote for the female candidates and candidates who support and empower women," Thomas said in a news release. "I hope the energy of the women’s march is just the beginning of the civic engagement we need year-round to win equality."
