STONINGTON, CT — A Pawcatuck doughnut shop that's served the community for over a decade is closing, according to The Day of New London.

A sign on the front door of the shop thanks "each and every one of our wonderful, loyal customers for continuing to visit our store each and every day."

Saturday was the last day the business was open, according to The Connecticut Scoop.

"It has been so much more to some than just a customer/barista relationship and you all have been appreciated through every aspect over the last 15 years we have stood in this spot," the sign reads.

Bess Eaton still has a lone location in Westerly, Rhode Island at 127 High St.

The doughnut shop chain started in 1953 in Rhode Island and grew to over 50 stores throughout southern New England. The company was sold in 2004 following a bankruptcy filing but was revived in 2011.
