NORTH STONINGTON, CT — A car plunged into a river in North Stonington on Thursday night, according to the North Stonington Volunteer Fire Company.
The driver had to be rescued from the car.
Crews assessed the person at the scene of the accident and transported them to the hospital for further evaluation, according to North Stonington Ambulance. The person's condition was not released.
A road was shut down for several hours as crews responded to the crash. Drivers were advised to avoid the area.
Fire officials posted about the accident shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday.
