Stonington Issues Warning About Scam

The town said the scam has been sent out to "numerous individuals including contractors."

STONINGTON, CT — The town is warning residents to be aware of a scam that is currently circulating claiming to be from the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Here's what the town posted on Facebook:

"The Town of Stonington is aware of numerous individuals including contractors that have received emails that appear to be coming from the Town of Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission. The e-mail references very specific information which includes a request to render payment to process an application. This is not a legitimate e-mail from the Town of Stonington and the Town would never collect a payment in this manner. If you receive a similar e-mail please disregard and do not respond. Please do not share any personal information in response to this e-mail."
