MYSTIC, CT — Mystic Fire Chief Christopher Clarkin has been placed on administrative leave, WFSB 3-TV reported.
Clarkin also serves as the department's fire marshal.
The leave is for an unknown period of time. Brad Bernier, who served as the department's deputy chief, has been named acting chief and fire marshal in Clarkin's absence, according to The Day of New London.
Clark said that he "strongly disagree(s)" with the reasons for the administrative leave and that he is "retaining competent counsel to vigorously defend myself," The Day reported.
Clarkin became chief and fire marshal in February 2024.
