Town Warns Residents About Scams That Use 'Very Specific Information'

STONINGTON, CT — The Town of Stonington is warning residents about a scam that's making the rounds.

The town posted the following on its Facebook page:

The Town of Stonington is aware of numerous individuals including contractors that have received emails that appear to be coming from the Town of Stonington staff and Planning and Zoning Commission. The e-mail references very specific information which includes a request to render payment to process an application.

These e-mails are not legitimate and the Town would never collect a payment in this manner.

If you receive a similar e-mail please disregard and do not respond. Please do not share any personal information in response to this e-mail. Thank you
