STONINGTON, CT — A public hearing on the proposed 2026-2036 Plan of Conservation and Development is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. at the Stonington Board of Education, 204 Mistuxet Ave. in Mystic.
The POCD is a long-range planning document that guides future development and decision-making in Stonington. It guides decisions related to funding capital improvements, development priorities and the preservation and conservation of natural resources and open spaces.
The plan is updated once every 10 years to ensure the town's vision and goals remain aligned with the evolving needs of the community.
The overarching theme of the 2026 POCD is to "Nurture, Celebrate and Sustain Stonington, with strategies and actions intended to guide future conservation and development efforts."
Public participation is part of the POCD process. A variety of open houses, workshops and information sessions have been held throughout the process and helped shape the proposed plan.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the public hearing and share their thoughts and vision for Stonington's future.
