Thinking Of The 343 September 11 Firefighters

I look at the little date on the right hand corner of my screen and think about tomorrow. Another anniversary of Sept 11th.

I usually write my blog about marketing ideas for small business but today, I am finding it difficult to concentrate. I look at the little date on the right hand corner of my screen and think about tomorrow. Another anniversary of Sept 11th.

I think that on Sept 10th, 2001 when 343 firefighters were living their lives, maybe some were already at work, some were enjoying their last day off before going on their next tour and some were putting in for overtime, all thinking of regular things. Maybe I think about it more than some because fire department is such a major part of my life, maybe because my brother is on FDNY and maybe because my boyfriend will be working tomorrow. I feel confident in our security these days to think that chances are small that another attack on Sept 11 would happen but the pit in my stomach remains.

I am thinking of the families of the 343 firefighters and how painful tomorrow must be for them. I am truly grateful that our family was one of the lucky ones and my brother survived that day but also realize that he has suffered a loss too that no one in our family will understand. I have a picture in my office of both of my brothers walking to the site side by side and I look at it every day. I don't want to NOT think about September 11.  I want to remember the feeling of that day, how scared I was and how vulnerable we were.  Because even though I can't speak to the families of the 343 heroes,  remembering that day and the sacrifices they made as they gave their lives to save others, maybe just thinking about it and remembering is my little way of thanking them for what they did.

So as tomorrow approaches, I pray that once again this year we will all be safe.  That my boyfriend brothers, cousins and friends that are working will all finish out their tours safely and come home to their families.

And I pray, like always, for the families of the 343 firefighters who went in and didn't come out as they once again honor their loved ones on such a sad day.

God bless the 343 and all the victims of September 11th as we approach another Sept 11th anniversary!

Until next time,
