From the expansive sea views to the classic New England architecture, Stonington Borough offers a variety of beautiful vistas to enjoy. And while I do enjoy photographing the broad based beauty, I often discover hidden delights, exquisite details in flaking paint, the random cracking of ice in potholes, the little birdhouses punctuating the village. And then there are the colours, the decidedly unique juxtaposition of clapboard siding to shuttered doors in combinations of orange and blue, yellow, ivory and grey; hot raspberry pink and burnt cinnamon shingles. You will often find me wandering the streets, buffeted by the crisp sea breeze, intoxicated with the briny tangy scent of the Atlantic sea, my eyes looking for the light and the shadow play, scanning for the unique and unusual, taking pictures of rusted poles, a tiny flower growing in the corner of granite stairs, or of clouds. My photos are an eclectic mix ranging from clean and crisp to grunged and shabby; because that's how life is. There are bright shining moments of perfection coupled with messy, broken and tattered bits. It is all beautiful. Every single morsel.
