• UConn firefighters, students and community members climb 110 stories to honor 9/11 first responders (dailycampus.com) — UConn firefighters, students and community members in Storrs honored 9/11 first responders by climbing the equivalent of 110 stories at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex. Organized by the Office of Veterans and Military Programs, the event paired a morning stair climb with a campus remembrance ceremony. Participants reflected on the sacrifices of FDNY and the importance of keeping the history alive for younger generations.
• Hughes, Borowy Named to East Coast Challenge All-Tournament Team - University of Connecticut Athletics (uconnhuskies.com) — In Storrs, two UConn volleyball standouts, Jordyn Hughes and Sydney Borowy, have been named to the East Coast Challenge All‑Tournament Team after strong performances at the UConn Volleyball Center. Their kills, blocks and consistency helped the Huskies go 2‑1 on the weekend and move to 5‑5 overall. Borowy now leads the team in kills, with Hughes anchoring the middle.
• Connecticut pizza chain Square Peg opens in former ParkSide Pizza space in Bolton (nhregister.com) — A popular Connecticut pizza chain, Square Peg Pizzeria, has opened a new location in Bolton while continuing to operate its Storrs restaurant that many locals already know. The chain is known for wood‑fired and Detroit‑style pies, pastas, sandwiches and cocktails, and has retained most staff from the former ParkSide Pizza. Hours vary slightly by day, generally running from late morning to evening.
