10 Dogs Seized From ‘Horrific Living Conditions’: Stratford Animal Control

STRATFORD, CT — The Stratford Animal Control is raising funds to help with another “heartbreaking case” that has come through their doors.

The animal control recently seized two adult dogs and eight puppies from “horrific living conditions,” according to officials.

“Ten dogs. Ten lives that deserved so much better. Together, they are the Stratford 10,” officials wrote in a post on the Stratford Animal Control's Facebook page. “The condition of these dogs is heartbreaking. The photos tell only part of the story. These puppies should be worrying about toys, treats, and whose lap they can climb into—not emergency veterinary care.

“Instead, all ten dogs were suffering from medical conditions serious enough that they had to be immediately transported to an emergency veterinarian for examination and treatment.”

Officials said the good news is that all 10 have a “good prognosis.”

“But their recovery will not happen overnight,” officials wrote. “They are expected to require months of veterinary treatment, medications, follow-up care, and monitoring.

“Their owner has been arrested for cruelty to animals. Because this is an active cruelty case, none of the dogs or puppies are available for adoption at this time.

“Right now, our only concern is getting the Stratford 10 healthy and showing them the kindness and care they should have received all along.”

The animal control is asking for help with raising funds for the care of the 10 dogs.

“Emergency veterinary care for ten dogs is only the beginning,” officials wrote. “The months of treatment ahead will be expensive, and we cannot do this without the support of our community.”
